Once a strategic position over the seeing Adriatic Sea, Split transitioned, in the last few years, to a popular resort destination of the European bourgeoisie. Built nearly 2000 years ago under the order of emperor Diocletian, Split grew around its imperial palace, giving the city a very particular style.
Explore the millennial city, starting with the Saint Domnius Cathedral, and climb the steps to its ancient bell tower, from where you will enjoy a marvelous view over both the white walls of the old town and the Adriatic Sea. Back on solid ground, detour by the covered market, built on the ruins of the palace. You will be amazed by the sparkling colored fruits, the incredible scent of spices and the tremendous drive of the merchants, combining to the place's unique atmosphere.
Finally, to complete your stay, head down to Marjan Park, located on a small hill close to the city. Take a walk on the shadowy trails, and get immersed in this efflorescence, where nature reigns supreme. Once on top, stop for a drink and take a moment to admire the remarkable beauty of the Croatian coasts.
